The Temptations - Psychedelic Shack

The Temptations - Psychedelic Shack
Genre: Soul, R&B, Psychedelic
Size: 68.13 MB

This is the album that changed The Temptations forever. Gone are songs like "My Girl" and "Since I Lost My Baby." Now there is a more relaxed, dark mood formed by these songs. There is still a feeling of hopelessness in some of the songs, but it's not caused by a woman. It's caused by themselves, through what they did. Coming into the psychedelic culture created the eerie "Take A Stroll Through Your Mind" with it's echoing repetition of lyrics. "It's Summer" still has the feel of early Temptations, but at the same time it's different. Whatever it is, this is definitely not an album to miss.

Tracklist:
1. Psychedelic Shack
2. You Make Your Own Heaven and Hell Right Here on Earth
3. Hum Along and Dance
4. Take a Stroll Thru Your Mind
5. It's Summer
6. War
7. You Need Love Like I Do (Don't You)
8. Friendship Train

Deep River of Song- Mississippi - The Blues Lineage

Deep River of Song- Mississippi - The Blues Lineage
Genre: Blues
Size: 80.88 MB
The public library is great for many things, the best being the access to free music that you may have not bothered to listen to if you were to see it in a music store, or would never had known it existed. This album is the latter. I had never seen this collection before in the local stores, and I must say that I feel terrible for overlooking it. A great collection of Mississippi talent is on this album, from the better known Willie Brown, Eddie "Son" House and Muddy Waters, to lesser known artists like Frank Evans and Willie Ford. A good album to soak up that Mississippi sound.

1. Ragged and Dirty - William Brown
2. Mississippi Blues - William Brown
3. County Farm Blues - Eddie "Son" House
4. High-Rolling Sergeant - Sam Carter, Jim Mickles, Eddie Miles, Jack Rogers
5. Early in the Morning - Hollis "Fat Head" Washington
6. The Jinx Blues (No. 2) - Eddie "Son" House
7. I Be Bound to Write to You - McKinley Morganfield ("Muddy Waters")
8. You Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone - McKinley Morganfield ("Muddy Waters")
9. Wind Howlin' Blues - David "Honeyboy" Edwards
10. High Lonesome Hill - Lucious Curtis, Willie Ford
11. Payday - Willie Ford, Lucious Curtis
12. Train Blues - Lucious Curtis
13. Santa Field Blues - Willie Ford
14. Low Down Dirty Dog Blues - Son House
15. Red River Blues - Frank Evans
16. Walking Blues - Eddie "Son" House, Fiddlin' Joe Martin, Willie Brown, Leroy Williams

The Roots - Phrenology

Little tired today, so I'm going to use wikipedia in all it's mighty knowledge to talk about the album.
The Roots - Phrenology
Genre: Hip Hop
Size: 99.21 MB

"Phrenology is the fifth studio album by American hip hop band The Roots, released November 26, 2002 on Geffen Records. Following the breakthrough success of Things Fall Apart, its release was highly anticipated and highly delayed, as recording took two years. The album includes guest appearances from artists including Nelly Furtado, Cody ChesnuTT, Musiq, Talib Kweli, and Jill Scott. The album was named for the discredited pseudoscience of phrenology, the study of head shapes to determine intelligence and character. Phrenology was sometimes used to justify racism in the past. The album cover artwork was created by artist/printmaker Tom Huck, who is known for his large scale satirical woodcuts.

While it did not parallel the commercial success of the band's previous album, Phrenology sold steadily and was eventually certified gold, signifying sales of at least 500,000 units. The album earned universal acclaim from music critics, based on an aggregate score of 87/100 from Metacritic."

Blind Melon - Blind Melon

Blind Melon - Blind Melon
Genre: Alternative Rock / College Rock
Size: 81.91 MB

Blind Melon were the "hippies," in a sense, of the 90s decade. Containing (on this album at least) happy lyrics coupled with psychedelic guitar playing sprinkled with Mississippi hard southern rock to create an album that, although optimistic, contains the punch to bring their point across. Although only remembered for the song "No Rain," Blind Melon has such a great catalogue that "No Rain" is felt to be at the bottom of the list according to other "Melonheads." If you want an album to spend the summer with, then Blind Melon's self-titled will definitely do the trick.

Tracklist:
1. "Soak the Sin" - 4:01
2. "Tones of Home" - 4:26
3. "I Wonder" - 5:31
4. "Paper Scratcher" - 3:14
5. "Dear Ol' Dad" - 3:02
6. "Change" - 3:41
7. "No Rain" - 3:37
8. "Deserted" - 4:20
9. "Sleepyhouse" - 4:29
10. "Holyman" - 4:47
11. "Seed to a Tree" - 3:29
12. "Drive" - 4:39
13. "Time" - 6:02

Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood

Well, it's been about a year since I last updated this site. I actually forgot about it until just today. But anyway, let's continue updating!

Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
Genre: Southern Rock, Garage Rock
Size: 71.34 MB

This is KoL's debut album, released in 2003. This album is much heavier than the album they just released, (Only By The Night, a huge let down) and oozes with the Southern sound and Caleb's southern drawl. What more can be said? It's a great album before they sold their souls to the pop devil.

Tracklist:
1. "Red Morning Light" – 2:59
2. "Happy Alone" – 3:59
3. "Wasted Time" – 2:45
4. "Joe's Head" – 3:21
5. "Trani" – 5:01
6. "California Waiting" – 3:29
7. "Spiral Staircase" – 2:54
8. "Molly's Chambers" – 2:15
9. "Genius" – 2:48
10. "Dusty" – 4:20
11. "Holy Roller Novocaine" – 12:08 [ends at 4:00, hidden track "Talihina Sky" (3:47) starts at 8:21]
